Russia expels a U.S. diplomat they say was caught red-handed with disguises, special equipment and wads of cash as he tried to recruit a Russian intelligence agent to work for the CIA.

US government 'seized AP phone records


AP described on Monday the action, which targeted its correspondents, as a "massive and unprecedented intrusion" into news-gathering operations.
Gary Pruitt AP Chief Executive said in a letter posted on the agency's website that AP was informed last Friday that the Justice Department gathered records for more than 20 phone lines assigned to the agency and its reporters.
